Barn Owl Babies, Pt Reyes 4/17/24

Careful, these photos might cause a cuteness overload. These little guys were so darned adorable. And in a stroke of good fortune, the setting sun shone right into the hole in the tree. Note that the date is not a typo - these photos are from over a year ago. The tree where they were located is fairly recognizable, and I didn’t want to risk jeopardizing the health of the nest by causing a bunch of people to seek it out and overwhelm them. So I decided to wait until this nest was no longer in use before posting. You have no idea how difficult it’s been “sitting” on these photos for so long.

I rarely post photos in a vertical orientation - I typically prefer landscape. But the shape of the hole in the tree and the orientation of the owls seemed to work much better vertically.
