Blowing Bubbles 5/17/25

Just sitting and blowing bubbles on a lazy day in Monterey. While hanging out on the rocks at Lover’s Point looking for whales, I saw these guys clambering about on the rocks in front of me. There was a time when I could almost immediately identify almost any critter I saw in/around Monterey Bay, but a lot of those neurons have fallen by the wayside. I’m thinking maybe Purple Shore Crab? If anyone has a better ID, feel free to let me know. UPDATE: I did a little poking around and I think this is probably a Striped (or Lined) Shore Crab (Pachygrapsus crassipes).
