Humpback Whales 7/22/25

I hadn't planned on going out today. I really wanted to make progress on my Farallones photos. But when I looked out the window and saw a Humpback surface literally next to the pier, I decided being out with the whales was better than looking at them on my screen. There were 3 relatively consistent whales that stayed around for several hours (at least), and at least 3 or 4 more that were in the area and one or two would come in and out at various times. One of them was Domino (so named by another whalespotter - Rosa) and Domino put on a really great peduncle throw display. The whales weren't the only ones fishing. There were a ton of terns plumbing the waters for fish. I'm including one shot with a tern that hit the mark.
