Red-winged Blackbird, Pt Reyes 4/29/26
This time of year the Red-winged Blackbirds are out in force and very ferocious at defending their nests and territories from any birds who dare to come near. My friend had seen them chasing and attacking some Great Horned Owls, so I was hoping to catch a bit of that. However on the day I was there, the owls had moved to a different location, further away, and never made an attempt to come around the area where they had previously been chased by the RWBs. I'm a bit bummed I didn't manage to catch that, but the RWBs are still a lot of fun, so I took a bit of video of them.
The first bit of the closeup portion looks like it was sped up, and then it transitions to looking closer to "normal speed". But in fact, the first part is normal speed and then it drops to 35% of normal speed. :-O Crazy, frenetic energy in these guys!
