Gray Whale, San Francisco Bay 1/24/26
I was on the Kitty Kat with San Francisco Whale Tours to see if we could find the two Gray Whales that had been spotted in the bay. We were successful. It’s not clear if we saw both of the whales, as my photos all appear to be of the same individual. But there were a few times when the whale surfaced within 30 seconds at a distance that I’m pretty sure it couldn’t cover in that time. So it’s possible I just never got a photo of the other whale, but that we saw both. I’ll have a follow-up post with the other critters we saw on the trip. This one is just for the Gray Whales. I focused a bit more on the “environmental” shots to try and highlight the danger these whales are in, being so close to major shipping and other human activities.
