Pacifica Pier work in the dark, 6/15/26
The work crews were out on the beach again today moving boulders. Previously they had been uncovering long-since-buried boulders and staging them closer to the pier. This time they started the process of piling them in front of the abutment of the pier.
The past few days I had been expecting them to start at “oh dark thirty” to coincide with the extra low tides we’ve been having. So I’ve been getting up very early in the morning to try and capture them coming on to the beach in the dark. But it turned out they ended up waiting until it was light out, so last night I didn’t bother setting my alarm. But right around 5am I woke up to the familiar “beep beep beep”. I looked out and saw them, so scrambled to get ready and head out. I missed the excavators coming on to the beach, but did get the bulldozer.
