Red-tailed Hawk 9/15/25
Are you lookin’ at me? I said, are you lookin’ at me?? I was out chasing the dolphins again today. While I was waiting at Mussel Rock for them to come down from Ft Funston where I last left them (they never did …. ), this Red-tailed Hawk landed in front of me. I pointed my lens at him, and he seemed to have a bit of an attitude about that. We had a bit of a stare-down for a while, and then he took off but he circled a few times, often staring right at me.
The heat distortion was pretty fierce, as you can see from the background and specular highlights (and that was after I softened it up a bunch). Barely one in forty shots was even remotely clear, but I was able to pull a few decent shots out of the bunch.
