The Majestic Blue Whale, Monterey Bay 6/17/26

I was aboard the High Spirits with Blue Ocean Whale Watch.  We saw multiple cetaceans, but none as large as the Blue Whales we encountered.  I lost track of how many, but I believe I heard the crew say they thought there were 12.  It’s awe-inspiring to witness a 300,000 pound animal gliding effortlessly through the water.  I think the view in the final clip of this video really captures it.  

For the eagle-eyed viewers, pay close attention to the water - you can see a light blue shape of the whale before it surfaces.  This is likely where the Blue Whale got its name (the whale itself is not actually blue).
